UN Secretary-General: 11 Billion COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Needed for Global Herd Immunity

United Nations Secretary-General Guterres stated on the 13th that to achieve global herd immunity and end the new crown epidemic, 11 billion doses of vaccine are needed for vaccinations in 70% of the world.

Guterres said at the opening ceremony of the ministerial meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council’s High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that he welcomed the international community’s commitment to provide vaccines and funds, but that was not enough. He emphasized: “Everyone must be able to get the new crown vaccine, virus testing, treatment and various other supports.”
